bibtex.org is designed to collect as little data as possible. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services, and loads its fonts from its own server.

Hosting and access logs

The site is delivered by Amazon CloudFront, a content delivery network operated by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg. When you open a page, your browser necessarily transmits technical data, which is recorded in access logs: IP address, date and time, the requested address, the referring page, the browser’s user agent, and the HTTP status and size of the response.

We use these logs to operate and secure the site and to compile anonymous statistics about which pages are read. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable and secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted automatically after 90 days. Amazon processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Transfers to countries outside the EU are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

DOI to BibTeX lookup

When you use the DOI to BibTeX lookup, your browser sends the identifiers you enter directly to doi.org, which forwards the request to the registration agency responsible for the DOI (for example Crossref or DataCite). bibtex.org does not receive or store these requests. The privacy policies of doi.org, Crossref and DataCite apply.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, write to the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Austria the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).
